Hydrocarbon Refrigerants
Hydrocarbon refrigerants are natural, nontoxic refrigerants that have no ozone depleting properties and minimal global warming potential. Hydrocarbon refrigerants are not just good for the environment, they are also good for your businesses bottom line. Air conditioning and refrigeration systems are the largest energy consumers within any building. By converting these systems to hydrocarbon refrigerants large energy savings can easily be achieved.
Hydrocarbon Refrigerants are 50% more efficient conductors of heat than fluorocarbon refrigerants and there operating pressures are around 20% lower than that of fluorocarbons. These lower operating pressures allow the system to operate with less load thus reducing energy cost and system wear.
By installing hydrocarbons you are not only removing one of the most ozone depleting products from your site, but you can achieve energy savings of between 17% and 36%. Three out of four refrigerators built in Asia and approximately 8 million from Europe each year are produced with hydrocarbon refrigerant, all using around 30% less energy than fluorocarbon based units.
