Assta labels is a leader in the wine label industry and since the beginning of business in 1947 have always been willing to invest in people and technology. This ongoing business philosophy has seen Assta Label continue to stay ahead of the game for near 75 years. Investing in a SmartSolar system to greatly reduce they overheads was the next logical move in keeping the business thriving.

On first meeting Graeme Staas, the director, he was slightly sceptical about energy technologies but with that was still keen to test the technologies. Assta Labels first moved with a more predictable LED lighting retrofit throughout the offices and factory and after seeing the outstanding results were keen to jump into generating their own power.

Having two individual feeds and NMI’s into the building allowed Assta Labels to install two system totalling 148.5kW and claiming STC grants for both. With the new LED’s and the SmartSolar System install the Assta labels management are super excited with the results seeing their energy accounts reduce from an average $12,000 down to $3,000 per month.

The first system has 302 x 330watt TrinaSmart panels installed flat on the north eastern roof which are coupled to 3 x Fronius ECO 27kW inverters. The second system has 148 x 330watt TrinaSmart panels installed on 30degree tilt legs on the south western roof facing north. These are coupled with 2 x Fronius 20kW SYMO inverters. Both systems have Tigo DC optimization with full rapid shutdown compliance.
